PLG 2803 - Paralegal Computer Support (Spring 2010-present)

This course introduces the importance of utilization of computers in the law office. Emphasis is on advanced legal applications of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Students are introduced to litigation support software and are required to complete document preparation assignments applicable to the litigation process.

PLG 2903 - Paralegal Trial Practice (Spring 2014-present)

This course covers trials and pretrial procedures. Special emphasis is placed on the actual drafting of pleadings, discovery documentation and motion practice. This course continues to stress the importance of utilization of computers in the law office with emphasis on litigation support software and billing software. Students are required to complete document preparation assignments applicable to the litigation process.

PLG 1302 - Tort Law (Fall 2015-present)

This course covers tort law and includes topics of negligence, intentional torts, strict liability, product liability, personal injury, litigation and insurance. Investigation, legal interviewing, pretrial preparation and settlement of tort cases are covered.

PLG 2603 - Commercial Law  (Spring 2013-16)

This course covers business law of commercial transactions. Included are contract law, the debtor-creditor relationship, sales, commercial paper and secured transactions. The students are taught specific skills in the drafting of appropriate U.C.C. documents.

PLG 2502 - Family Law (Summer 2013)

This course covers legal issues in family relations, including the formation and dissolution of marriage, marital property, child custody and support and other related matters. Students draft appropriate legal documents.

Provides opportunities for students to develop themselves professionally. Special emphasis is placed on charting a course through goal setting, discovering and launching a career in today’s environment. Topics covered include determining avenues to find a job, creating a career portfolio and preparing for an interview, getting started at a new job, dressing for success, e-mail etiquette, diversity in the workforce, stress management, business etiquette, time management, and selecting and working with a mentor.
